So sorry for not updating this blog. My bad, I know. I’ll try my best to update this blog at least once a week. I have so much to share with you. You know, I’ve been in school from 7:30 am-4:30 pm.

This week I’ve started reading test for my Anuban 2 (4-5 years old). They’re quite smart. They can read and spell the following:

1. hen

2. bell

3. frog

4. clock

5. fish

6. bath

7. box

8. green

9. two

10. run

The secret? Daily reading and spelling of words. Did You Know? Brain Development is roughly 90% complete at age five, so it’s necessary to be your child’s first teacher. The earlier the child is taught to read the better they will read and the more likely they will enjoy it. Studies prove that the earlier a child learns to read, the better they perform in school and later in life. Early readers have more self-esteem and are more likely to stay in school. Meanwhile, a national panel of reading specialists and educators determined that most of the nation’s reading problems could be eliminated if children began reading earlier.

I only pick up the easiest words I’ve taught so far but they could actually read about 50 English words. They had that daily reading assignment where a teacher checked everyday. So far, out of 35 learners in my class, only about 5 are slow readers, the rest, BRAVO!!!

My Anuban 2 learners were serious with their worksheet activity. They see to it that they write well and color well.

I usually let them listen as I read the words, then I would call one student to connect the picture to the right words. It's one way of teaching them reading-familiarization of the words, spelling then follow the teacher's reading.
